Wallace Jordan Photography is about a phantasmagorical journey through this man's lens which I would like you to enjoy. Are you ready to see the world?
I am a third generation New Yorker and I live in a brownstone four minutes from Times Square. It was built in 1872 by John Jacob Astor who died on the Titanic http://nypost.com/2015/09/12/inside-nycs-most-secret-restaurant .
Enrico Caruso, the renowned opera singer also lived here.
Paul Schoenstein, my grandfather also known as "Mr. New York" won a Pulitzer Prize for saving a little girl's life and the subsequent story that followed. He was the Managing Editor of the New York Journal American and worked at other papers owned by William Randolph Hearst for nearly half a century. He even helped capture the "Mad Bomber".
My mother and father were the only people to have their wedding reception at the legendary Stork Club in New York City. The guest list included people like Johnny Ray, Dorothy Kilgallen, Jimmy Durante, Cindy Adams. The master of ceremonies was Joey Adams.
My father, Eliot Jordan "Realtor to the Stars" was my mentor and taught me photography using his Linhof 4x5 camera. He used this camera when he was an interior decorator. My father went to the New York School of Interior Design and his teacher was Michael Greer, who worked with Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy designing the interior of The White House. He also taught me how to use a Stereo Realist 3-D camera which we used in our world travels together.
When I began traveling with my father, the first thing he told me was meeting the local people was the most important part of any country. Some of our travels included various cities in England, France, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, Canada, Peru, Brazil, Japan, China, etc with even more to come.
I have visited about half of the United States and I have been to Graceland twice. Major and even obscure museums have always been a point of interest. Through these adventures, I have gathered an extraordinary collection of antiques. In fact, the Corning Museum of Glass is interested in acquiring one of my glass pieces.
After studying photography at the Fashion Institute of Technology, I've continued taking numerous photography courses over the years. Later I became a member of the international Center of Photography and I recently took a course at The Shaw Academy.
I am the official photographer for Barbetta Restaurant, the oldest family-owned restaurant in New York City established in 1906. http://barbettarestaurant.com
Over the course of my life, I have been working on a number of charitable causes. One of the highlights of my charitable works was when I brought a young lady over from Kosovo who had both her legs blown off by a landmine above the knee. I was able to get her all of the medical care at the Hospital for Special Surgery at no cost. Only forty two days after she had arrived in New York City, I was dancing with her at a party. The New York Post dubbed me "Local Hero".
I hope these photographs give you a unique perspective of the incredible world we live in and inspiration to begin your adventure now!
